Jake, whose breed is best defined as lovable mutt, enjoyed a run on the Katy Trail on September 21. Ruth Heck adopted Jake when the hungry dog swam to the canoe she and her husband were wielding down the Missouri River. Jake's presence has been a comfort since her husband died 3 years ago.
