Airplane mechanic Daymond Coleman, 80, ran the airport for 17 years. “This thing was a beehive,” Coleman says of the days when Festus received more air traffic. He’d like to see the airport expanded to accommodate larger planes. “I want the thing to get up and going again. At this stage in my life, it doesn’t mean a whole lot to me, but it’s been good to me and good to the community through the years.”
