After her cousin spotted a personals ad from Donald Spreng, Susan Spreng decided to leave her country, the Philippines, and resettle with him in Cuba, Missouri.

Susan and Donald married in 1994 and lived on a farm with Donald’s brother. Donald then bought a drive-in theater in 1978, and moved the family into the theater’s projection house.

Donald died in 2011, leaving Susan with their three children, Karen, Carol and Brad who is autistic. Susan built a new home for them in 2014 and continues to care for her son Brad while running the theater with her daughters on the weekends.
