Margaret Methe makes mothering appear easy. Even amidst a flurry of morning activity as she prepares her four children for school, she radiates grace and joy. “Life feels pretty chaotic right now,” she admits—but she is practiced with transitions. Margaret grew up Amish but became a Mennonite at age 17. Margaret now navigates a new transition as she, her husband, and the kids temporarily live in a small apartment above the family’s grocery store while they finish building their new home. “I am not supermom,” she says—but working full time combined with her tender, nurturing relationship with her children prove starkly the opposite. She provides a profound sense of calm during the storm.
