Yocelin Palermo is a trans woman born in Puebla, Mexico, one of the most conservative states in the country. In spite of the hardships, she lives fully with support and love from her family and friends.
In Mexico, trans people have a life expectancy of only 35 years. Unfortunately, trans women are recurrent victims of hate crimes against the LGBTI community. Yocelin is an example of hope and resilience. If there is something to learn from her, it is the importance of accepting and loving yourself- something that few humans accomplish during their lifetimes.
“The worst mistake is to `assume´, because you cannot be certain, so a lot of people go around without knowing who they are,” says Yoselin.
