Story Summary

Founded in 1969, Music Millennium claims the title of largest record store in the Pacific Northwest. Under owner Terry Currier, the store has survived Napster, smartphones and streaming to become a Portland cultural icon. When the COVID-19 pandemic came to Oregon, Music Millennium switched to a curbside-and-online-only system for 10 weeks but returned to limited in-store shopping in June. Despite the restrictions, business has been strong thanks to enormous community support and passionate staff that embraces the store’s slogan: “Where the music and people still matter.”
