Story Summary

Mary Roelofsz grew up in Detroit, but now at 50 years old, Mary is one of the founders of Dreamers’ Farm. She currently cares for more than 100 animals, some of which include her horses and goats and her beloved Bull Terrier dogs.

“If I could only have one thing, it would be my Bull Terriers because they’re my heart.”

All of Mary’s animals have names, and although some of the animals are sold, others stay at Dreamers’ Farm. “They’re my little family members,” Mary said of the goats in her herd.

Mary’s mother, Bea Roelofsz, never lived at Dreamers’ Farm before her death in January of 2019, but she’s the other dreamer in the farm’s name.

“Our dream was to raise Gypsy Vanner horses and my dream was to raise goats,” Mary said.

She and her mother were very similar, Mary said. “It just makes me happy kind of knowing that she’s proud of me and loves what I’m doing.”
